TFG Hand-Tooled Frame

VALUE > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

This Dutch-style timber frame, constructed by the Guild's Geometrical Layout and 18th-Century Hand Tool Workshop, to be built in the week immediately preceding the conference and without power tools or tape measures, using methods typical of the early 1700's in upstate New York.

Pair of 19th century trammel points

VALUE > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

These just in from bridgebuilder pal Will Truax, currently rehabbing a lovely little bridge in the wild regions of Maryland with Tim Andrews and friends.

Trammel points are found in such numbers that they were obviously a very common layout tool used for a variety of tasks, including swing arcs for developed geometry and in all likelihood they were used to make long story poles for timber layout. Currently plumbline scribers often use them in deep layups.

Protool GDP 460 Drillstand from Timberwolf Tools

VALUE > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

The generous folks at Timberwolf Tools are at it again.

They are contributing a Protool GDP 460 drill stand to our Saratoga auction.

This is a popular size with timber framers who want to accurately drill holes up to a depth of 14 15/16" using an 18" auger. The largest drill bit that will fit through the standard centering wheel is 1", but one can make a plywood jig to fit on the pin that holds the centering wheel, and make it work for drill augers up to 2" wide.

FROM BRAD CORKILL - WHITEMAN LUMBER - A THREE PACK OF STUFF YOU NEED

Value? > > > > > > > >

Normally, Brad would be at the conference to put this stuff in the live auction himself, but his sawmill burned down in January and his hands are more than full.

Not so full that he couldn't find time to think of his Guild pals, and offer these treats, which he will happily mail to the lucky winner.

I think a clever timber framer could figure out how to use all three of these items at once.

Here are a knife sharpener, a Leatherman tool and a cap with two LED lights in the brim for the auction.

Opening bid, $5
