Talladega National Forest - CCC project

Printer-friendly view of this page.
5-15 March, 2010, near Heflin, Alabama

This is going to be a great time.  The Forest Service has turned over their maintenance facility to us.

Nice big flat space to work in, covered areas for inclement weather.  Camping right next door.

We'll feed you well and give you meaningful work to do.

This is a bit of a replica structure, inspired by the CCC pavilions, but with the subtle upgrades needed to achieve a contemporary engineering seal.

Leadership Team includes Chris Koehn, Peter Bull and Emmanuel Bennetolo.  Logistic support by Alicia Spence, Shirley Fedora and Joel McCarty.

We expect to do a good deal of hand work.  All the materials are very local.  Excellent barbecue in the area.

We even expect to make most of our own fasteners, and do a hand raising a much as possible.

Upon registration you've be receiving the usual deluge of paperwork; waivers, tools lists, safety advice, travel advice, food questions, plans, etc.

We hope to keep this kind of back and forth as electronic as possible - but we'll definitely be able to make accommodations for those of you in the paper world.

Destination airport is Birmingham.  We'll be wanting your travel data ASAP, so we can begin to think about coordinating transport.
