In spite of the increase of the bandaid count from three to five today, it has been an excellent exercise in humidity.
Crane Driver Arron Ramsey arrived with a nifty 17tonner that he deftly greased through the access road and snuck up to the edge of the slab where he spent the day broiling in the sun, swinging loads off of the trailer and into position on the Bents below.
All the while GC Joe Murray and his cheerful crew were back filling and compacting the retaining wall - right in the middle of everything - 'sort of like the real world' one veteran timber framer opined.
Gabel's crew succeeded in assembling and pegging off two bents (we're done with that!) while Brian Phillips toiled in the hottest corner of the foundation with the A-Wall fitup, working around the braces that are supposed to keep the retaining wall in place . . . braces will be gone on Wednesday am.
Meanwhile, around the corner, the smiths are manufacturing whimsy by the truckload; you won't believe the ornamentation on these post bases. It's a raucous and jovial bunch of bangers and welders and grinders; the are mixing up some sort of time capsule into the entry bent support structure, welding, or stamping the names of absent comrades in the fixtures, and wrapping it all with anvils somehow. It's a good conflagration between our two trades; we're having a fun and effective time dreaming up ways to attach our stuff to their stuff to the silos, and more.
Stay tuned.
