The generous folks at Timberwolf Tools are at it again.

They are contributing a Protool GDP 460 drill stand to our Saratoga auction.

This is a popular size with timber framers who want to accurately drill holes up to a depth of 14 15/16" using an 18" auger. The largest drill bit that will fit through the standard centering wheel is 1", but one can make a plywood jig to fit on the pin that holds the centering wheel, and make it work for drill augers up to 2" wide.

An adapter ring comes with the drill guide to go on the collar of a drill, behind the chuck. Once outfitted with the adapter ring, the drill then fits into the opening at the top of the drill stand and is held in place by a clamp. It is important to know that only drills with a 1 3/4" or 43mm collar diameter will fit properly into that ring adapter. (Bosch, Makita, Dewalt are a good fit, but not Milwaukee.)
