A long day for explanations and paperwork.
We've sorted ourselves into teams based on collections of frame parts - which seems logical enough, and easy to understand. Each team has a crew leader and a mix of rookies and pros assigned.
The roster is a little light today, with the apprentices delayed and a couple of other folks AWOL. This may serve to reduce the overhead of chaos, but it also means that the timber shuttle could use a bit more help. Fortunately for us not only did Kevin Lanier bring Cabin Creek's big loader, but the School bought a newish one for this project AND as a bonus, Brian Phillips brought his along as well - so we're in good shape for power equipment - oh, did I mention we have a portable band mill, as well? Courtesy of Ford Hall.
We hope we don't need it.
I found some wireless (and a coffee machine) at the school office, and got a welcome assist from the staff in finishing up registrations for the stragglers so I didn't have to spend the day away from the site. Nice bunch of folks to work for. It's hard to say which (the coffee, the wireless, or the friendly folks in the office) is the biggest draw to that corner of campus in the early morning.
The School is running a weekend program, so between that and us we have pretty well maxed out the excellent dining services, much to the disappointment of any who have tasted it previously. We found some flexibility in our arrangements that assured that all of our folks were fed, and fed well.
